Nicely engraved silver vesta or match safe made by Joseph Gloster in Birmingham in 1906.
Silver vesta by Joseph Gloster match safe Birmingham 1906
A lovely vesta in good antique condition with a lovely patina decorated with the foliage and fine interconnecting lines. A vacant cartouche to the front. Made by Joseph Gloster and hallmarked in Birmingham in 1906.
It has a side set ring to be attached to an Albert chain or chatelaine and given its attractive decoration it would make a lovely pendant. Some of our customers use their vestas to keep an emergency £20 note in.
The vesta has a strong spring and opens with good tension and snaps shut. It has surface wear and the usual light surface "pin" marks and scuffs in line with its age and normal usage. Please see photographs. It has good clear hallmarks and makers mark on the lip of the closure where the original interior gilding is still visible.
